Description:
CIS 53 Client-Server Web Programming
3 hours lecture; 3 credits
Programming a Web-based interactive client-server application. HTTP protocol, Web browsers, and Web servers. HTML and its extensions. Java applets. Interaction with server using CGI and alternatives. Server-side programming and control. Session persistence. Design of interactive Web pages using client-side (browser) scripting.
Prerequisite: Computer and Information Science 2.70 or 16 or 26; and 22.

Office Hours:
Office Hours is set for Right Before Class. You can also bring up whatever questions you may have either before or after the class, or on the class forum. Let me know when you want to meet.

Homeworks:
There will be a bunch of homeworks, and a quiz every class.

Tests:
There will be a midterm and a final exam.

In This Class:
Peer cooperation is encouraged, however, everyone must submit their own work. You will be expected to answer detailed questions about your assignments. (i.e.: if you didn't write them, I'll know.)

Attendance is not mandatory, but highly recommended. [you must attend at least a few times in the first six weeks, or you will be dropped from the class with a WU grade] Also, it would be VERY difficult to pass the class without regular attendence; you are responsible for catching up if you miss class.

All projects, assignments, homeworks, etc., will be submitted via email. Do not print out the assignments

Grading:
Tentative grade breakup: 25% Midterm, 40% Final, 35% Homeworks & Quizes.
